It’s Okay to Ask for Help

by Melody Jean

While getting ready to go with my dad to the discussion he is leading this morning, I paused to read a snippet to keep my mind thinking. It was applicable, especially of late.

Many of us don’t let others in to help. There are many reasons for this. I am guilty as charged Yet, with everything swirling around me lately I broke-down, so to speak, and asked others for assistance. I always thought I did not seek help because (1) I didn’t want to burden people with my worries and (2) quite frankly, I don’t want everyone knowing my business.

Yet, what I read today said that we might do it, too, so that we can’t let people get close to us. Another thought to entertain that I will leave with all of you and I will work my way through as well. For now though, I’m off to the lecture with my dad where he will share with 30+ lucky people what he has come to know as the elusive modern day quest for “happiness,” and what mysticism and Sufism can lend in this journey. I have learned a lot by watching him and I know that I will continue too. Further I know others have been, and will continue to be, blessed in this vein too. Enjoy your day everyone!
