Are You There God? It’s Me, Melody.

Are You There God? It's Me, Melody. Contemporary SeekerIf you’re a 30 or 40-something, reading this post, you likely know American author, Judy Blume – especially if you’re a woman.

Outside the Box

Yes. Judy Blume. A writer from my youthful days.

Her books were of a different caliber. Judy was fearless never hesitating to step outside-of-the-box of “normal” teen writing.

Due to circumstances of late one of her books popped into my cranium. Well the title did anyway. It’s called, “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret?”

You see, I wonder sometimes if he (or she, or whatever you believe) is really there?

Don’t get me wrong, I believe in something greater. Yes. Yes, I do. Yet, when the burdens are great, I experience moments of wonder.

Here I share …

Are You There God? It's, Me, Melody Contemporary SeekerAre You There God? It’s Me, Melody.

I’ve been reaching for you lately

Reaching far and wide

I know you’re really busy

helping all who seek your guide

Yet sometimes I can’t help but to wonder

Where exactly I fall in line

because my doorstep’s rather full

of debris that’s all intertwined

So I’m caught between here and there

and my only hope is of you

because I’ve traveled that road deep inside

but it’s left me without being renewed

I need your guiding light

to clean my home, my soul

for something dwells in there

and it won’t leave me alone

Yet when I hesitantly start to wonder

If you’re really there

you show me a glimpse of your love

and I feel you caress the hurt I bare

While this burden’s become rather heavy

And I tremble from the weight it shares

I continue to ask you to guide me

though continually unsure when you’ll reappear

Are you there God? It’s me, Melody

I ask for your healing light now

for it’s you that will help me through

until I turn this back around

I have added my small voice to yours. Together, with other voices….who knows what will come your way?
